An amazing journey into the design world of NYC

A year ago I was again in NYC, venturing into the shows scattered around the city during NYCxDesign and that is when I was introduced to Odile Hainaut, the co-founder of Wanted Design through a good friend of mine. Odile was very enthusiastic about having some kind of a Turkish representation at Wanted and urged us to put together a group of Turkish designers for this year's show.

One thing lead to another and here we were, a group of nine contemporary design studios presenting selected works to the New York design audiences during Design Week under the title of Istanbul Design Collective. Co-curated by two Turkish architects in two continents - Koray Duman in New York and Füsun Eczacıbasi in Istanbul, I helped organising an exhibition presenting a scene representative of Istanbul contemporary living, featuring works of Autoban, Begüm Cana Ozgür, FEYZ Studio,  Gorbon Tiles, Linens, Merve Kahraman, Mucs Studio, and Santimetre as well as Fy-shan Glass Studio.

Furthermore, Fy-shan Glass Studio is proud to be coming home with an award from this journey, 2018 Honoree of NYCxDesign for its table, Strait, launched here in NYC!

Istanbul Design Collective's this first show was realised through generous sponsorship of MNG Kargo,  STEPEVI, Apa Tasarım, Fol Studio,  Misela and funding from the participating studios.  Thank you all for believing in us and supporting us!!
